Lupus

Found out earlier today that one of my friends (RN) was afflicted with lupus. I wasn’t sure what it was but it sounded serious as she was hospitalised for 3 weeks in July and is still trying to recover from it all. Hope she’ll be ok…

Here’s some information on lupus in case you’re ignorant like me:

Thailand “MRT” card

If you’ve never seen one before, then this is it.

Interesting… I seem to have accidentally introduced an optical effect where the card looks like its floating off my hand…

Anyway, I took this pic while I was exploring Bangkok on my own after my wife went for a massage with her extended family; I didn’t go as massage is a waste of money on me because I don’t have aches and pains very often, and I don’t feel anything special after a massage. All I did was to explore Siam Square and the entire MBK. MBK is damn big…

Was it worth it?

There may be a silver lining behind my taxi travails after all.

Once I neared my office, the heavens opened and it started pouring. Made me feel slightly better because I was thinking I was wasting my money because the rain started abating 5 minutes into my taxi ride.

But damn… the near $30 fare hurts…

The $1 shortcut

The taxi story continues… He asked me if I wanted to go by a shortcut along an expressway. I thought of asking if it would cost extra but I thought as a taxi driver he should be familiar with the roads. Furthermore, he wouldn’t earn anything from the ERP.

Stupid guy had to drive under a gantry and we were only on the expressway for a SHORT WHILE (10 seconds maybe?) before we exited. Damn you SHC xx E…

Ex Ex =Six Four…

Raining and had to take a cab to work

Called for a cab but the CityCab driver took me for a ride. Said he wanted to avoid the traffic jam and said he had an alternate route. I thought he had some brilliant route that I didn’t know about but what he did was to go ONE BIG ROUND and end up rejoining that road with the traffic jam, albeit at a distance down.

Grrr…I hope his original intentions were good…

Dunkin’ Donuts

I’ve had this craving for Dunkin’ Donuts since the last time I was in the US at Florida with Esh. We passed by quite a few DD outlets but we never stopped by any of them.

This time, on my recent trip to the US, I finally managed to pay a visit to a DD outlet. As with most things where you build the anticipation up to a crescendo, the actual donut was… disappointing. I’ve had better donuts in SG.

Anyway, reproduced here in multi-colour glory is the donut.

7 days is the max

Keep chanting it to yourself as a mantra. “7 days is the max… 7 days is the max…”

Whether you are doing up a project plan yourself or accepting a project plan from vendors, each task on the project plan should last no longer than 7 days. If any task exceeds 7 days, then it becomes difficult to track the progress and the people working on the task may also not develop a sense of urgency since the discernible milestone to them is still some time away.

Most, if not all, tasks can be broken down to a maximum 7 day duration. If you find that you are unable to do it or you are working with a project planner who says “It’s impossible” (incidentally a much too common refrain from vendors…), then TRY HARDER.

No Coach

Went to the US not long ago and one of my friends requested me to buy a Coach bag for him as a gift for his girlfriend. I didn’t do any shopping in San Francisco so I thought I had better drop by one of the outlets in L.A. Unfortunately, the Coach shop was “Coming Soon”…
